By this point I wasn't a fan of the controls but I was used to it. The very beginning was ok, Isaac fights his way out of the mental ward of the colony, hardly scraping by, with necromorphs all over him, it was good, I felt it made sense. Then beginning Dead Space 2 I just felt betrayed. Once I finished it, I was anticipated to see what happened to Isaac once he'd left the Ishimura, and the marker, to burn in hell. I loved how the controls were different, so it stood out from other games. It was a perfect balance of horror elements and survival, with some shooter in there obviously. It reminded me of the 80s-2000s space horrors like Event Horizon and the first few Aliens. I loved the switch at the end, when you realise your girlfriend, who you've been trying to find your entire time on the Ishimura is dead, and has been for however long you've been trying to find her, and how Kendra turns on you, only to die trying to get the marker back to earth. I played through dead space 1 completely, played no other game, and it was absolutely incredible.
